Android now activated on over 100 million devices

Google’s Android operating system has now been activated on over 100 million devices worldwide, the company confirmed during a press conference yesterday. If you’re a big fan of statistics (who isn’t?) then this one’s for you.

Figures show that Android is installed on 36 different manufacturer’s devices, using 215 different mobile networks worldwide. Google also confirmed that they activate around 400,000 devices per day, including smartphones, tablets and Google TV.

As the race for the biggest app market continues, Google look set to overtake Apple’s App Store in the coming 12 months. The Android Market now has 450,000 developers onboard, with more than 200,000 apps available to download to Android devices. Over 4.5 billion paid and free apps have been installed by Android users to date. Impressive, huh.
