Google Android’s sweet new name to be “Jelly Bean”?

The fruity new name for Google’s next mobile operating software has supposedly leaked online, with rumour suggesting the next Android (4.1/5.0?) will be titled – “Jelly Bean”.

It’s clearly the most ridiculous yet, and follows some seriously silly and sickly sweet names such as  “Eclair” (2.1) “Froyo” (2.2) (We had to Google it!) and the upcoming “Ice Cream Sandwich” (4.0) which is scheduled to begin its roll out this October/November.

The ‘close source’ (aren’t they all..) backpedals a little, in the same breath stating that “Jelly Bean” is probable for the next dessert-themed mobile OS, set to appear on HTC, Samsung and a number of other mobile manufacturers handsets at some point in 2012.

With a little bit of doubt in mind, we don’t know if someone’s being serious here – or if someone’s just having some fun and games with the ‘droid-lovin’ community! Maybe the Gadget Helpline should throw its own suggestions out for treat-based future releases?

How about Android 5.1 “Kola Kube” – or perhaps Android 24.1 – “Wham Bar”?
