Android powered Sony Tablet on its way this Summer?

We could see Android-enabled Sony tablets in within months – business news site Bloomberg report, with official word on the Sony slab coming right from the top.

Sony CEO Howard Stringer confirms the Google platform version 3.0 Honeycomb will appear on Sony hardware by the end of summer and it’s quite possible the tablet will be “Playstation Certified” meaning it would follow the standard set by the recent Sony Ericsson gaming gadget, Xperia Play (which also features the Android open source operating system), in providing both function and a legit gaming experience all in one handheld.

Android 3.0 Honeycomb is designed for tablets, making the most of the higher functions, processing and screen size. A leap onto Sony tabs will elevate the range of existing Android / Sony unions which have appeared recently, specifically on the Xperia range.

Initially set for launch in the States, the rest of the world is sure to follow shortly after – Sony tablets with Android have got game. Apple iPad 2 watch out!
