“There is nothing wrong with your television set. Do not attempt to adjust the picture. We are controlling transmission.”

The Android take-over has well and truly begun! Already invading the majority of mobile handsets worldwide, the Google platform is now set to land in our living rooms in the coming months.

A set top box loaded with Android 2.2 (FroYo) will bring full digital TV, internet, games, music, instant messaging and SMS services to HDTVs – not forgetting all of the out of this world apps available through the Android Market.

The Google TV box comes with a remote and features a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 2GB internal storage with potential for up to 32GB via SD card or USB, which can be used to wire up to your external devices and hard drives.

The box is made by Shenzhen-based company Geniatech, who could well beat Google themselves to the punch with an Android set top box – that is of course, if Google allow them to sell it!

There’s no report on a price or when exactly the invasion begins – but widespread excitement amongst ‘Droid-heads is expected!
