Is that a Lion in your pocket – or are you just excited to hear the news of Apple’s latest desktop OS becoming an easy to grab USB thumb drive?
High street Apple Stores are now unleashing the Lion OS X operating system in a portable USB form, as an alternative to the App Store’s beastly 3.49GB download, which has had Mac-tivists cowering in the corner with their Snow Leopards since the OS was released almost a month ago.
The £55 thumb drive is a considerable step up in price, more than twice that of the £20.99 fee for the same software owned by those who have already opted to download. The no-disc approach extends to those who don’t want to download and don’t want to buy a USB thumb drive, as Apple Store staff will install the Lion OS X to portable MacBooks, at a cost.
The timely download hasn’t however put off the one million Mac users who grabbed the Lion OS X software in the first 24-hours of becoming publically available. Read the Gadget Helpline’s story – here.
