It’s official: Apple will be launching the iPad 3 next Wednesday on March 7th.
The Cupertino Company has begun sending out invites to the tech press this afternoon, inviting hundreds to join them at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. The event invite, in typical Apple fashion, contains one simple sentence:
“We have something you really have to see. And touch.”
As if we needed any more clues, the image behind the message shows an iPad – namely the Calendar app icon, which shows the date as Wednesday 7th, the date of the event.
The rumour mill has really taken things up a notch in the past month, with plenty of purported parts from Apple’s next tablet leaking online. From what we’ve heard, it seems likely that Apple will announce a tablet that for the most part looks like the iPad 2, although with a more curved back panel. The parts used will spell the big difference between Apple’s new tablet and the second generation model, namely a high resolution ‘Retina Display’ and an improved camera sensor.
The event kicks off at 10am PST, which equates to 6pm our time, in GMT. Gadget Helpline will be ready and waiting for Tim Cook, Scott Forstall and the rest of the Apple crew to announce their latest product, whatever it might be.
