Call Of Duty: Black Ops 2 to be Announced 02/05/12?

You can consider this the first brick, in the soon to be information wall of information that is this year’s Call of Duty first person shooter game release’s PR. Yes just 24 hours after Microsoft used Late-night television to promote and announce the release date for the next game in the Halo Franchise, a murky and blurry photo of a poster turns up.

The poster itself is simple, a black and white man with a Gun (standard stuff) with the date 05/02/12 (Which is 2nd of May 2012 in for us outside the US!) and the tagline “Return for the Briefing”.

The photo and poster are from a “Retail Source” which was leaked to gaming website Kotaku and is looking to be an announcement for the announcement of the latest instalment in Activision’s phenomenally popular Call of Duty games franchise.

The next game is looking set to be a direct follow-up to 2010’s COD: Black Op’s which is made by game developer Treyarch and was the most successful COD ever, that was until last year’s Modern Warfare 3 game.

It’s not the first time that information about the games has been leaked beforehand and it’s also not the first time that release and game info has been spotted on promotional tools sent out by Activision, so the poster leak looks to be the first step in the mega promotional machine that is a Call Of Duty game release.

If Call of Duty: Black Op’s 2 is to be the next game in the instalment then users can expect a late Oct/early Nov release date and with Halo 4 recently being announced for the 6th Nov you can expect Activision and Treyarch to try and get a head start on its biggest rival (sorry Battlefield… you come third!).

But as per usual its all just speculation until the announcement comes so stay tuned to the Gadget Helpline on the 2nd of May for the full update.
