We have absolutely no doubt that anybody fortunate enough to have bought an iPhone 4S has spent an extensive amount of time speaking to Siri, the voice controlled personal assistant software on the phone.
We’ve done it ourselves – the first thing we did when we unboxed the iPhone 4S was to try out Siri. Many people have asked it silly questions in the hope of silly answers, but many of us out there are hoping to use it in everyday situations to benefit us.
Siri can send text messages, make calls, play music, make calendar appointments and more. Unfortunately in the UK we currently cannot use Siri to map directions or to find us businesses or people, though that is coming in 2012.
Despite this key feature missing from Siri for users in the UK, Europe, Canada and more, it is still a very useful tool and there’s an awful lot you can ask it to do for you. We’ve found a very comprehensive list of voice commands that Siri will respond to, many of which we didn’t know about.
The full list is below, so check it out and of course, try them out on your iPhone 4S. We’ve found the Music commands very useful for when using the iPhone in the car, to control the tunes playing through our stereo. Some of these are obviously examples, so you can change up what you’re asking. “What is the price of petrol in Bath?” worked fine for us!
