The Dark Knight Rises: The Mobile Game – Announced for Apple iPhone, iPad & Android Devices

Batman is soon to surface from the shadows once more to tackle his deadliest big-screen foe to date – the monsterous Bane. And unless you’ve been living in a cave yourself, you’ll know we’re well into bat season with promotion for the Dark Knight Rises taking over many of our mobile gadgets.

We’ve had bat-branded phones from Nokia and an app for Windows Phones, a new edition of award-winning Batman: Arkham City for the Nintendo Wii U and now developer Gameloft has announced it will bring the World’s Greatest Detective to Apple and Android devices when The Dark Knight Rises: The Mobile Game launches this summer, to support the movie’s worldwide release on July 20th.

The Caped Crusader’s latest adventure on iPhone, iPad and Google-based smartphones and tablet will be an immersive “open world” single player game allowing gamers to do what Batman does best – investigate, interrogate and kick some major behind. Hardy fist blows and head-butts seem the Batman’s key arsenal in DKR: The Mobile Game but we can probably expect to see some of those classic gadgets from the hero’s utility belt in play too, and the game features scenarios, characters and themes from the upcoming movie – all leading up to the inevitable battle with big baddie Bane.

A teaser trailer has shown off some of the gameplay and visuals and despite this being not as complex as Batman: Arkham City, the game looks to faintfully deliver an action-packed *POW!* Keeping the dark atmosphere of Gotham at its very darkest and allowing mobile players a free-roam of the massive cityscape which is created in close partnership between Gamesoft, DC Comics and movie-makers at Warner Bros, so all the action and accuracy is as close to the Dark Knight Rises movie as possible.

The Dark Knight Rises: The Mobile Game is scheduled for “Summer 2012” and will become available on Google Play for Android devices and the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad. As you know, your Gadget Helpline bloggers are big bat fans so will give you the signal when this one becomes available!
