We’re little more than a week away from the E3 conference and we’re pretty excited to say the least at the prospect of seeing some first footage of sci-fi shooter HALO 4 coming out of L.A next Tuesday. The same could be said for the Beeb, who dropped a bombshell of its own recently when reporting on the very serious real-life conflicts in Syria..
Instead of broadcasting the logo of the peace-bringing U.N, the United Nations alongside that of Amnesty International, the BBC News team instead, apparently unwittingly, put out the symbol of the U.N.S.C – the United Nations Space Command – known to Xbox 360 gamers as the fictional military agency of the United Earth Government in their beloved HALO game series!
The BBC has since apologised for its mistake which has had HALO fans and the gaming community at large sharing its amusement online and the World’s largest broadcasting network states “Unfortunately an incorrect logo was used during a segment on last week’s News at One bulletin and we apologise to viewers for the mistake. The image was not broadcast in our later bulletins” telling Eurogamer that “BBC News makes every effort to ensure the accuracy of all images broadcast, however very occasionally mistakes do happen”
The latest in the HALO series was announced by Microsoft back in April and will be released in time for Christmas 2012 with a few pieces of concept art already leaked to raise our anticipation, so the upcoming E3 is the most opportune time to impress us ahead of an end of year war which will also see a new Call of Duty Black Ops sequel launched. Microsoft has promised “Halo 4 takes the series in a bold new direction by delivering its most epic and explorative campaign yet, alongside an emotionally resonant story and a groundbreaking multiplayer offering unlike anything before it – setting the stage for an epic new sci-fi saga.”
