evasi0n 1.4 offers untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.2

As Apple updates its iOS software for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, so the jailbreaking community scrambles to update their tools to keep devices jailbroken. Such is the case with iOS 6.1.2, which Apple launched last night, which has caused issues for those currently using the evasi0n tool.

At the moment evasi0n is the most popular jailbreaking tool of all time, racking up some 7 million downloads within a matter of days after launching recently. It allows iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users to effectively free themselves of Apple’s shackles, opening up the gates to install apps from the web, change themes and fully customise their devices.

Apple updated to iOS 6.1.2 last night to resolve a bug with the Exchange calendar, and it was thought that they may also patch the loophole used by the guys behind the evasi0n tool, thus leaving anyone using the tool stuck on iOS 6.1.1, as updating would remove the jailbreak.

The team behind the evasi0n jailbreak tool – a group of people who call themselves the ‘evad3rs’ – tweeted today that a new version is available to keep the jailbreak going on Apple’s latest software. They’ve tested it with an iPhone 5 and iPad Mini and confirmed everything works as it should, with testing currently going on with older devices.

If you’re already jailbroken and you want to update to iOS 6.1.2, then you’ll need to grab evasi0n 1.4 from their site here.
