Finally Apple are Looking to Fix iMessage Bug

Since the creation of iMessage in iOS 5, ex-iPhone users have been plagued by an iMessage bug. This bug stops users from receiving text messages from other iPhone users on their new Android devices because the number is still associated with iMessage and will therefore attempt delivery over the internet before delivering in the normal text message manner.

Apple admitted to re/code that there is an issue and that they are aware of it and have “recently fixed a server-side iMessage bug which was causing an issue for some users, and we have an additional bug fix in a future software update”. In addition to this Apple have advised giving Apple Care a call if you are still having an issue.

But what if you don’t want to wait for a fix or spend hours on the phone to Apple or in an Apple store? It’s simple really. Just plan ahead a little bit and deactivate iMessage before switching phones… just click settings, then messages and then click the slider for iMessage. Of course, this is easy to say in hindsight.

For lot of users they have already switched phones and don’t have time to call Apple Care or go to an Apple store, for those users it is going to be a case of waiting for the next iOS update which will hopefully fully address the issue before Apple start getting in too much trouble for unfair competition between themselves and other platforms.
