Android phones are not going away anytime soon, neither are Android issues. There are countless Android manufacturers ranging through every price bracket and they all share many qualities. Regardless of the Manufacturer, at its heart, your Android is an Android. Thanks to this there are a number of ways to fix your device regardless of who made it. We have compiled a list of how to fix common issues:
Not charging
This has to be one of the worst of issues with phones. No power means no phone. Thankfully there are a few things to try before you start shouting at shopkeepers.
If your phone has only just stopped charging then here are some steps to try:
- Try a different charge cable. A lot of the time proprietary charge cables are not the best quality. With a phone not charging this should always be the first port of call.
- With the phone connected to its charger and connected to a power source you could try a two button reset. This is done by holding in the power button and the volume- button for at least 10 seconds to be sure. If it just needed a full reset then you should now be seeing the Android logo.
- Leave to charge for a few hours.
Common Android Issues
No sound
So your phone is not making a sound anymore when ringing? One or two things could be stopping the sound coming through. Usually, with a process of elimination this issue can be corrected.
- Are you using headphones? If so try unplugging them or try different headphones.
- Restart your phone: Turn it off and on again.
- Last and final option to bring back your sound would be to fully reset the phone
- Bring up the phones settings page
- Choose backup and reset
- Choose reset all if you have backup up your information already.
- Follow on screen prompts to set your phone up again from factory condition.
Apps running slowly?
Have your apps started to load up slowly? Maybe they are crashing a lot? Could just be some software issues that need a clean-up. Here’s a checklist that will hopefully get you past this issue:
- Check all your apps are up to date. This can be done by loading the Play store and choosing My apps & games. Select update all in the updates tab.
- If it is only one or two apps that cause issue, try uninstalling the app and reinstalling.
- Last and final option to correct those app issues would be to fully reset the phone
- Bring up the phones settings page
- Choose backup and reset
- Choose reset all if you have backup up your information already.
- Follow on screen prompts to set your phone up again from factory condition.
Screen freezing
If your device is not even getting to the point of being functional and is just freezing the screen constantly there is only one real option to try:
- With the phone connected to its charger and connected to a power source you could try a two button reset. This is done by holding in the power button and the volume- button for at least 10 seconds to be sure. If it just needed a full reset then you should now be seeing the Android logo.
- Go through the full setup process and try reinstalling your apps one at a time to try to pinpoint the app that is causing the problem.
