Battlefield 3 explodes onto Xbox 360 and PS3 this Friday and is looking set to pose a challenge for the other front-runner, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. To celebrate the Battlefield 3 launch retail temple of geekery Forbidden Planet will be opening the doors of its London store to former SAS member and the critically-acclaimed author of title such as Bravo Two Zero, Andy McNab.
Recipient of the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM), McNab left the SAS to become a writer. Most of his titles reflect on personal experiences while working with the services. However, his latest release is a tie-in to the popular Battlefield series and is being released as a companion story to the upcoming threequel, which is released in the UK on October 28th.
Battlefield 3 the game is a modern-day first-person shooter set in war-torn 3D environments. The game follows a pair of successful preceding titles and number of spin-offs and will be released through EA Games on consoles, with a roll out on Microsoft Windows PC and Apple iOS platforms to follow.
The Battlefield 3 book follows the game, coming in a few days later on November 3rd and Forbidden Planet on Shaftsbury Avenue will play host on that evening to an exclusive signing session with Andy McNab who will autograph the new hardback between 6pm and 7pm. The book has been described as bringing the Battlefield experience “more alive and interactive than ever before.”
