Just yesterday, Sony Ericsson posted a tasty little treat on their official Facebook Page, telling us that the official Android Gingerbread update for the Xperia X10 would be coming this week.
The post stated “The launch of the 2.3 software for X10 is getting closer, and the planned release date is approx. w30.”
Week 30 began two days ago, meaning the update could land any day now.
Well, it would seem that the day for updating is today! Sony Ericsson have put a notification for the X10 on their support site to confirm the arrival of Gingerbread for the phone. You can connect your handset to a PC and use Sony Ericsson’s PC Companion software to update to Android 2.3 now.
New features include:
-
- Facebook Inside Xperia
- Wi-Fi Hotspot
- USB Internet Tethering
- Photo Widget
- App Tray Sorting
As usual, unbranded devices will be updated first and devices branded to networks will need to wait for the update to be authorised by the network.
Let us know if you’ve managed to update your Xperia X10 and how you’re finding it by adding a comment below! We’ll be updating our handset to Gingerbread right now.
