Android experts Google have answered the prayers of many thousands of app developers and end users alike, allowing the creators of an app to reply to customer comments and reviews in the Play Store.
If you’ve ever downloaded an app and really wanted the developer to know about something you’d like to see added, you can now tell them and they’ll be able to respond to let you know what they think. Likewise if you need help with an app, the developer can help you out via the comments system.
Google expects the new feature to help developers respond to customers who report faults or want things added. Not only will it help the customer but app developers can build up a rapport with customers and learn what they want quickly.
Developers with the coveted Top Developer badge will be the first to get the feature, with a rollout to more devs coming shortly after, based on feedback from both customers and other developers. Devs will be able to view incoming reviews and comments through their Google Play Android Developer Console and reply directly.
Customers will be notified by email when a developer has responded to a question or review they left on the app store. From here they can contact the dev directly via email or other methods of contact if specified, and can also update their review in the Play Store.
This is a feature that both iOS and Android developers have been clamoring for since the App Store and Play Store first launched. We see far too many negative reviews left for apps when a simple pointer from the developer could result in a much better user experience. We say, good on you Google!
