Google Nexus 7 Android Jelly Bean Tablet to be Released Tomorrow?

[tab name=’News’]

With Google releasing its latest Android Jelly Bean 4.1 update yesterday for its flagship Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone with no fanfare, rumours are now coming in indicating that the next major Google product release, the Google Nexus 7 Tablet may be released to the general public as soon as tomorrow!

Several tech sources are tipping that the first tablet to sport the new Android OS could be released to the market tomorrow, less than a month since it was initially announced at the Google I/O Developer’s Conference.

Word is coming in that several retail stores in the US have received stock overnight that will see the tablet device go on sale soon. The current expected ship date on the official Google Play Store has also shifted from 3-4 weeks down to 1-2 weeks and there is even a leaked image from retail chain Office Max that shows 341 of its retail stores will have in store stock to sell in less than 2 days.

Google seem to like to take the opposite route to Apple when it comes to product and software releases; where Apple like to keep everything a secret then announce all the features only make the users then wait for a release date, Google favours keeping everything a secret then suddenly announcing the product and following up by suddenly releasing the product!

The Google Nexus 7 was announced two weeks ago at the annual I/O Developer’s Conference along with the new Android software update Jelly Bean, and will become available in an 8GB model at £159/$199. The model posted by Currys features a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and 1GB of RAM. The seven-inch Gorilla Glass-covered IPS display boasts visuals at a 1280 x 800 high definition resolution, and the tablet also features a 1.2-megapixel front camera for video chat.

We are unsure of what this means for users in Europe and the UK as we have had no reports of the tablet coming to UK-based stores, but we can assume if the device is released on Thursday there will be a quick turnaround in Europe too.

Currently the Currys website has the device listed with an expected release date of July 19th and costing £199.99.
