GSLive 2011: Vuzix Wrap 920AR Augmented Reality Video

While we were over at the Vuzix booth at the Gadget Show Live, we took a bit of time to get to know where they’re going with Augmented Reality and their products.

One of the most recent products released by Vuzix is the Wrap920AR, which is similar to the top-of-the-range Wrap920 product, but with two small front mounted VGA cameras for Augmented Reality capabilities.

The Wrap920AR is capable of hooking up to DVD players, iPhones, iPods, and various other mp3/mp4 players. It also connects to PC or laptop via a VGA or DVI to VGA adaptor, and that’s where the Augmented Reality technology comes in.

We were treated to a look at Vuzix’s latest Augmented Reality demo, which you can check out at the bottom of the page. What is shown on the TV is exactly what you would see through the eyewear itself, which displays the equivalent of a 67-inch screen viewed at 10 feet away.

By looking at the trigger card on the desk using the eyewear, the Augmented Reality software will kick in on your connected pc or laptop, and you’ll begin to see the little man climb out through the desk. Pretty clever stuff!

Augmented Reality is the future, and right now we have only just begun experimenting with it. Vuzix hope to take AR even further with the addition of their new MaxReality 3D plugin.
