HMV have confirmed that they will be stocking the much hyped Google Nexus 7 tablet which will be running the latest version of the Android operating system in the form of 4.1 Jelly Bean.

From July 16th HMV stores will be stocking the 16GB Nexus 7 tablet device in stores for users to pick up for a bargain price of £199.99.

Speculation of when the tablet device will be released both stateside and in the UK has been flying around this past week, with Google seemingly enjoying the secrecy and not giving any further information on an official release date.

Earlier this week Google started to release the first update toAndroid Jelly Bean 4.1 for its flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and immediately after the release news started to arrive of the Nexus 7 tablet hitting our shelves soon after.

The Google Nexus 7 was announced two weeks ago at the annual I/O Developer’s Conference along with the new Android software update Jelly Bean, and will also become available in an 8GB model at £159/$199. The model posted by Currys features a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and 1GB of RAM. The seven-inch Gorilla Glass-covered IPS display boasts visuals at a 1280 x 800 high definition resolution, and the tablet also features a 1.2-megapixel front camera for video chat.

Currently HMV’s Oxford Street store is said to be “taking enquiries” regarding the Google Nexus 7 with an advertised release date of the 16th of July (next Monday), but currently the information is only surrounding the £200 16GB version of the tablet and there is no mention of stocking the 8GB £159 version.

We cannot wait to get our hands on the Nexus 7 to run it through its paces along with the new Jelly Bean OS, but you can check out our exclusive hands-on images with the 4.1 Android OS by clicking here.
