Well, this is quite a surprising change. According to the HP UK website, the upcoming HP Pre 3 will be packing a dual-core processor at launch, instead of a single-core CPU which it was said to feature.
On the Pre 3 specification page, it now says that the Web OS smartphone will feature the Snapdragon dual-CPU APQ8060 1.2Ghz CPU, which also happens to be the same CPU that powers the HP TouchPad tablet.
As you can imagine, if the Snapdragon APQ8060 is good enough to power the TouchPad, I’d say you can expect good things performance wise from the Pre 3.
Although, the folk over at GSMArena have a valid point about the suspiciousness of the specification change, as the only amendment on the page is the CPU, which is odd, as usually when you change a CPU it means that other components need to be changed as well – like the whole chipset.
Anyway, let’s hope that the details are indeed correct, and it’s not an unfortunate typo. The Pre 3 is due to be released very soon, so we shouldn’t have too long to find out.
