The iPad 2’s latest contender is coming in the form of the HP TouchPad, which has just gone up for pre-order through the Hewlett Packard website.
Hewlett Packard’s tablet will go nose-to-nose with the iPad 2 in price – with a 16GB version priced at £399 and a full-fat 32GB model weighing in at £479. The TouchPad packs a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor and 9.7” 1024×768 display for all those big screen glorious apps, with webOS allowing you to share websites on other devices. There’s also superior quality “Beats Audio”, and Adobe Flash Player for the media experience.
However, some have noted that the version of QuickOffice attached to the slab will not support document editing from launch. Presumably we will still be able to view Microsoft Excel and Word documents and an update will follow shortly – Being eager to get something out there it seems HP will release an unfinished product.
Will this cost valuable points when HP’s TouchPad takes the fight to Apple?
