Step back, Sensation – HTC Ruby is set to be T-Mobile’s Number 1 in the US

HTC’s Ruby handset is coming to the T-Mobile network in the United States, and newly released tech spec reveals that this latest gem in the collection will replace the HTC Sensation as the carrier’s top handset from the Taiwanese manufacturer.

Packing a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, the HTC Ruby will come with 1GB of RAM, generous 4.3” qHD display, 2-megapixel front-facing camera, as well as 8-megapixel rear shooter (with dedicated buttons). For connectivity there’s Bluetooth 3.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

Compare these specs to the HTC Sensation’s which include a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and “just” 768MB of RAM, the Android Gingerbread handset comes up a little underweight, and could soon be replaced just a short time after its June 2011 release.

Despite having no release date for the HTC Ruby as of yet, the newcomer has some price speculation. Online sources are suggesting that the Ruby handset will come in at $199, slashing the Sensation’s cost by up to $50.

The HTC Sensation dropped on UK shores in May as launched by Vodafone, so we can only imagine that we’ll get to see the Ruby here too and before the US. The Gadget Helpline will be following the latest on this story to keep you updated with any news regarding a HTC Ruby release closer to home.
