Tesco has tipped over a trolley full of fail regarding the anticipated “New” Apple iPad, which goes on sale this Friday, leading thousands of online customers to believe they’d bagged the next-gen tablet for just a penny under 50 quid!
Pre-orders for the new iPad 64GB model came in thick and fast as it appeared that the grocery shop-cum-department store was offering another of its “unbeatable value” deals by listing the must-have tablet for over £600 less than its true RRP. After the official Apple Store closed pre-orders due to demand, thousands snapped up the bargain and shared the news with their pals on Facebook and Twitter as presales increased to voluminous heights.
Today these buyers have found out that, obviously, Tesco had simply made a critical error while publishing their web page for the Apple gadget, with a spokesperson for the online store confirming that IT are fixing the error but Tesco will refuse to honour any order made at the listed £49.99 price.
This will be particularly hard to hear for one bargain hunter who reckons he’s bought twenty New iPad tablets from Tesco Direct, due to be shipped this Friday 16th March. In fact, for £50 you could have actually bought at least 12 for less than the official price tag of one!
The New iPad means the Apple tablet gets a little spruce up and a few added features – most notably a new high definition 9.7” display with 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, A5X processor delivering quad-core graphics, a camera boost to 5-megapixels and the inclusion of voice assistant software Siri for voice dictating messages and emails.
In wake of its arrival, last season’s iPad 2 will be receiving some price cuts, with some models receiving a discount of up to £100 at selected retailers. Check out Gadget Helpline’s New iPad vs iPad 2 Specification Showdown to find out which Apple tablet is best for you!
