Another day another iPhone 5 rumour. A reliable source has told a US tech blog BGR that the new iPhone 5 will come with a dramatically refreshed case and will be unveiled in August.
According to the latest round of rumours the new phone will be announced in August and not September, which is contrary to other reports that have been doing the rounds. It could be that the phone is unveiled in late August and released in September.
Gadget blog BGR has reported that “a reliable source” has “independently confirmed” the next-gen Apple iPhone will be unveiled this August with a “radical new case design, new camera and faster processors”.
The new reports seem to think that the phone will be sporting a new look and are predicting the refresh won’t just the be the software and camera as previously predicted, but a whole new look.
The current thinking is that the iPhone 5 will come with the same ARM 5 1 GHz dual-core processor that is the current power plant for the super-snappy iPad 2.
BGR still reckons the the improved snapper will be an 8 megapixel affair with full 1080p full video recording, as well as a large 720p HD display – possibly 4-inch.
“Apple may hold an event in the beginning or middle of August to announce the new iPhone, with availability to follow in the last week of August,” the leak claims. Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 5 alongside the recently revealed iOS 5 later this year.
It was reported this week by Brian Tong, at Cnet UK, that the new iPhone would be dropping in September, which might still be the case if an expected unveil is done in late August. At the moment no-one really knows for sure, but the more rumours the better in our book, as there’s no smoke without fire in the tech world.
