iStalker: Find ‘Compatible’ Partners With New Apple Patent

Here’s yet another screwed up Apple patent; a system that tracks iPhone users with the same tastes in your area, points to where they are and displays a ‘compatibility’ score based on what you enjoy.

Here’s the company’s description of the bizarre new patent:

…when two strangers meet, it may take a long and awkward conversation to discover their common interests or experiences…

Instead of ‘akward conversation,” Apple proposes that individuals’ interests can be determined manully by questionnaires (interest, books, etc…) but also automatically by mining various data found on their iPhone device.

You will be able to find others in your immediate vicinity that might match your interests and introduce yourself to them through your iPhone.

It seems that if you’re an iPhone user, you too can get with total strangers since your phone does all the introductions for you. Essentially, you can get to know someone simply by checking your phone. All you have to do is notify them with a quick message and ask for a date.

No thanks.

Thankfully, the service would apparently be opt-in to protect you from total freak strangers, and also it uses GPS tracking to pinpoint where you’ve been, who you’ve met and other personal data of that nature. Apple seems to be obsessed with almost constantly keeping tabs on its user base, a fact that this reporter wishes wasn’t so true.
