LG and Gameloft have come together to bring 17 new mobile games to the Optimus 3D handset – utilizing the cutting-edge 3D tech LG declare that “the era of dedicated handheld gaming platform is over”.
Gunning for the 3DS, the scathing comments from LG put Nintendo on notice – with three of Gameloft’s Stereoscopic 3D titles to come pre-installed on the glasses-free Optimus 3D. These are NOVA, Let’s Golf 2 and Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, with another 14 games available to buy, including Shrek Kart and Real Football 2011.
Dr Jon-seok Park, Head of the LG mobile communications, continues “Today’s smartphones have the horsepower to compete with the best portable gaming devices and LG Optimus 3D is our proof. We think 3D is the natural next step in portable entertainment and LG is eager to throw its hat in the ring with the Optimus 3D and Gameloft’s ‘must-be-seen-to-be-believed’ titles”.
“The most recent data shows iOS and Android devices capturing a growing part of the portable gaming market by revenue” adds Michel Guillemot, President at Gameloft.
The LG Optimus 3D was announced back in Feb at this year’s MWC event and is now available through the Carphone Warehouse in the UK.
But if you don’t fancy paying up to £500 for a PAYG handset, or a £35-per-month contract you could recreate the 3D magic by sticking a Pic 3D screen sheet on your mobile for only ¥2000 (about £15!)
