LG and Qualcomm press event set for September 19th – LG Optimus G coming?

LG has sent out a host of invites to a new press event they’re holding next week on September 19th in New York.

The invite is a co-hosted event with processor and chip makers Qualcomm, so we can expect to see the new quad-core powered smartphone that the two companies have been making and teased a few weeks back.

Now exactly what the phone will be is still a mystery, but rumours are rife that the press event will surround a new LG Optimus G smartphone with the fabled quad-core Snapdragon Pro CPU in built.

The LG Optimus G is looking set to be a high end smartphone ready to take on the Samsung Galaxy SIII with its 4.7-inch True HD IPS+ display alongside a 1.5GHz quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, a 13MP rear camera, front-facing 1.3MP camera, NFC connectivity and a whopping 32GB of internal storage.

Currently the LG Android smartphone will ship with the older version of Android in the form of 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but we would expect an update to the latest version of the Android OS, Jelly Bean, in the coming months after its release.

We are excited to see what Qualcomm and LG can offer but with the iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S3 currently leading the smartphone world, it’s looking tough for LG to break through into the big leagues.
