Microsoft makes 3-5 May free Xbox LIVE Gold weekend

Been meaning to renew that Xbox LIVE Gold membership? This weekend is the perfect opportunity to get back into online gaming, as Microsoft is giving everyone 48 hours of Xbox LIVE Gold for free.

May 3rd to 5th will be another weekend of free online gaming for Xbox 360 owners around the world, giving those without memberships a window of opportunity to get online and game, download new demos and arcade games, and chat with friends.

There’s also double XP on offer with select games over the weekend, with Halo 4, Gears of War Judgment, Far Cry 3 and Assassin’s Creed 3 in the mix.

Non-subscribers will benefit from a number of offers, such as 1600 free Microsoft Points for signing up to Lovefilm and then continuing a subscription after the 30 day trial ends. Given that the Microsoft Points usually cost around £20 and a Lovefilm subscription can be as low as £4.99 a month, you’ll be getting a pretty good deal!

In a bid to keep current Gold subscribers paying, Microsoft will also be offering popular shows such as Breaking Bad and Big Bang Theory for free on Xbox Video through until May 12th. Gold subscribers will also receive 100 Microsoft Points for recommending a friend, and if you renew your subscription in May you’ll get a 400 points bonus.

We’re now just eighteen days away from Microsoft’s big event, where the next generation Xbox will be unveiled for the very first time. Who’s excited?
