It’s looking like Microsoft could be revealing its next generation of Windows 8-sporting Surface tablets to the world sometime in June, as a rumoured announcement has been revealed.
Sources have told Digitimes that a new range of Surface 2 devices will be coming in, with 7-inch to 9-inch display variants, and that these devices could be announced at the Build Developer Conference, which will take place June 26-28 where Microsoft’s Windows 8.1 will also be showcased.
Reports state that there may also be a decent amount of Xbox crossover brandin, which could mean that the new Surface tablet range could have gaming in mind with some models gearing towards gaming features with higher specs and such.
There have been rumours that the next generation of Surface tablets would look more towards the gaming market and with Microsoft never actually releasing a handheld gaming consol, it could be looking to expand the Xbox branding into a featured handheld device.
Speaking of the next generation of gaming, Microsoft will also be announcing the next generation Xbox console on May 21st where we may see some interaction between other products (similar to Xbox Glass).
It’s all a bit of a mystery for now, but an exciting one nonetheless…
