Microsoft’s outspoken CEO Steve Ballmer has spoke out in support of next week’s Nokia World event stating that we’ll see a “bunch of new devices running Windows Phone” will be seen for the first time at the London Excel across October 24 to 26th.
Speaking at the Web 2 Summit event in San Francisco, the excitable Chief Exec, of course, puts over his own product Windows Phone 7.5 (or Mango) on Nokia wares and slates iPhone 4S as a “sea of icons and blah, blah, blah.”
Speaking of platform survival and keeping the Windows Phone a relevant name in the ever-changing and crowded mobile OS market, Steve says that it’s not out of the question that one day we may see Windows Phone appear on a Microsoft designed mobile smartphone. He says “Microsoft will do what it takes to enable hardware innovation” and adds (whilst slamming Google’s platform) “You don’t need to be a computer scientist to use a Windows Phone. It is really hard for me to get excited about Android.” – Burn!
We’re looking forward to next week’s developments from the Nokia World event and the arrival of this bunch of new gadgets, including the Windows Phone packing Nokia Sea Ray – but do think it’s a bit of a shame Microsoft isn’t expected to be represented other than by its software. The Gadget Helpline would pay to see Ballmer in top form in the UK!
