Motorola DEFY+ Rugged Android phone gets a UK Release date!

UK fans awaiting Motorola’s sturdy and bump proof Android handset, the Motorola DEFY+, finally have an end in sight for their waiting as the rugged smartphone will be hitting our shores in Q3 of this year, or more specifically in September.

Motorola’s original DEFY Android handset was very popular and Motorola have taken a side step in its handset range to bring the more rugged DEFY+ along instead of an instant update on the handset in keeping with other manufacturers. Instead Motorola has toughened up its Android phone and added a few extra perks too.

First and foremost the tough aspect has been improved, with the Defy+ now sporting the IP67 certification, meaning it is splash, mud and dust resistant and can even hang out underwater for up to 10 minutes and the screen is also covered by super-tough scratch resistant 3.7-inch high-resolution capacitive Gorilla Glass touchscreen.

Inside the phone sports a 1 GHz processor TI OMAP which is an increase on the original DEFY model and will come with 2 GB of in built storage with a further 2 GB MicroSD card in the box,  5-megapixel camera.

Running on the latest version of Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread with integrated MOTOBLUR OS, the handset will carry all of the Google and Android Apps you’d expect like Gmail, Maps and YouTube abut with an added bonus of preloaded apps like CardioTrainer and Zinio magazine reader so the handset is properly geared towards the Outdoorsman.

The Motorola Defy+ UK release date is set for September and we  expect to see it on the shelves for around £250 SIM-free on £25+ per month contracts for Free .
