Following the leaked official snapshots of the Nexus 5, Google has announced a starting price for the flagship smartphone via its Play Store just weeks before the anticipated, but still only rumoured, October 31st launch date.
Made by South Korean company LG, the Nexus 5 is advertised on the Google store and product shop alongside the new Nexus 7 and 10, with a fairly slender asking price of $349 (around £215 GPB) for a 16GB model, the only Nexus 5 model mentioned. Whilst only a small image, a high resolution version has been pulled from the store – above.
This is the only reference to Nexus 5 price and availability you’ll find on the website and since you won’t actually be able to buy it yet, this suggests the early leak of information was perhaps a premature gaff on Google’s part. Or, it could be another of Google’s marketing ploys – whoops, look what we did!
This vague but official detail at the very least confirms the Nexus 5’s imminent arrival and it will of course come packing the brand new Android 4.4 KitKat software, with a refreshed and clean new interface as revealed previously in our exclusive.
