Nintendo Confirms 3DS XL Arriving in UK & Europe in July – Play.com Offers Price & Pre-order

Nintendo has been full of surprises since the E3 Expo several weeks ago, seemingly keeping a few tricks up its sleeve until after hitting the Los Angeles stage to focus on the new Wii U home console.

In the weeks following we’ve heard that highly anticipated first-person shooter Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 might be arriving on the new console – but the biggest news since E3, quite literally, has been the announcement of a new super-sized Nintendo 3DS no-longer-so-portable portable console.

We’ve heard how the Nintendo 3DS XL will deliver all the same three-dimensional gameplay but on a massively optimised 90% larger screen at 4.88-inches for the main screen with the second touchscreen also getting a boost.

The hardware in general has also been on the magic mushrooms and has increased to almost arcade proportions and upping the weight of the gaming gadget to 336-grams from its predecessor’s 235-grams with a provided 4GB memory card replacing the regular 2GB supplied with the original Nintendo 3DS which launched last February.

The 3DS XL will be released on July 29th and despite gamer’s criticisms Nintendo is still yet to employ a second thumb-stick which would provide more natural gaming control – or offer an official price for the beast.

Play.com however has thrown out that valuable information and is taking pre-orders for the available blue, black and red Nintendo 3DS XL models – all of which come with a £179.99 asking price.
