Nintendo Delivers More Retro Games for Wii U Virtual Console – Also Launches Panorama View

Nintendo has been busy today, and having already released a software update for the Wii U they also announce a range of classic titles will soon be arriving for the gaming gadget’s Virtual Console as well as the launch of Panorama View with a number of 360-degree tours available.

Virtual Console:

Nintendo is keen to remind us just how awesome it’s NES and SNES platforms really were by recently launching a Virtual Console campaign to celebrate 30 years since its first home gaming system. A number of retro titles have already been launched and they will soon be joined by many more favourites from the 80s and the 90s.

Announced today are: Super Mario World – the plumber’s first adventure on the Super Nintendo from back in 1990. F-Zero – a space-age racing game also from the SNES in 1990. Platform-puzzler Ice Climber and boxing game Punch-out! give us flashbacks to the original Nintendo Entertainment System in 1984 and 1985 respectively. Other games in the line-up include Donkey Kong Jr., Mario’s Super Picross and Excitebike. All of these legendary titles are worth a download and another blast on Nintendo’s modern age Wii U and will become available from tomorrow costing £5.49 for SNES titles and £3.49 for NES.

Nintendo also promises games in the original Super Mario Bros. and Street Fighter series as well as Pac Man and Super Metroid will be arriving later in the year for the Virtual Console available through the Nintendo eShop.

Panorama View:

The Wii U Panorama View is available to enjoy from tomorrow after it was teased in the build-up to the Wii U’s launch in November and as a break from overdosing on all those classics owners can take a relaxing tour of several global locations in full 360 degree perspective.

Owners will be able to use the Wii U’s GamePad as an extended window to the world and by moving it up, down, left and right we, as virtual voyeurs, can look beyond the what the main TV screen can show us and available tours include a bus trip around the sights of London and the carnivals of Rio de Janeiro. Playable previews are available before committing to your journey which will cost just £1.79 for the full experience.
