Nintendo is rolling out an “8-Bit Summer” for its US-based handheld 3DS owners which a line-up of classic NES, Game Boy and SEGA GameGear titles arriving across the coming months!
Having already announced the SEGA mascot’s isometric puzzle spin-off game Sonic Labyrinth another seven games will become available – some of which have already hit the Nintendo eShop here in the United Kingdom and Europe including The original Legend of Zelda arriving on July 5th and first released in 1986.
Other retro re-releases will be Game Boy titles including another of Nintendo’s familiar heroes Kirby who celebrates his twenty anniversary this year and will be appearing in Nintendo’s 8-bit extravaganza in Kirby’s Pinball on July 12th. The Sword of Hope II also comes on July 12th, with Kid Icarus: Of Myths and Monsters arriving on July 19th, Tumblepop and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 also on July 19th. These will be followed by Sonic Blast and Sonic Labyrinth on yet to be confirmed dates.
Nintendo promises a big year for its portable 3DS after a slow (and costly) starter last year. The console has already been given a reworking and will soon become available in a larger arcade style version called to Nintendo 3DS XL – a gaming gadget which boasts a 90% increase in screen size than the original launched in March of last year.
