Nokia has launched a firmware update for the popular Lumia 800, the first of the Finnish-made Windows Phones which was released to much applause around a fortnight ago. The sold-out smartphone’s success was even celebrated with a London performance by Canadian DJ DeadMau5. Good sales and popularity have been troubled slightly by a reported battery charging issues which it’s claimed will be finally resolved in this update.
The lengthily named version 1600.2479.7740.11451 software update for Nokia Lumia 800 will begin rolling out next week and in addition to fixing that darned battery will also offer better voice mail notification and improvements to Microsoft Exchange 2003 mail reply. The update provides a solution a brightness issue which affects the Lumia 800 after a call and delivers improvements to the gadget’s audio quality.
The Nokia Lumia 800 arrived in the UK on November 28th bringing with it a powerful 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB of RAM with 16GB storage and connectivity to SkyDrive and the updated Windows Phone OS which is presented on a 3.7” 800 x 480 resolution WVGA display.
Lumia 800 Windows Phone owners should get a notification informing them when the update is ready then it’s just a case of simply hopping onto Zune and following the necessary instructions. For more info on the update Nokia have provided some further information on its product support pages
