A number of new Nokia Lumia 900 owners in the United States are finding themselves in a disappointing dilemma after grabbing the gadget only a few days ago, when the Windows Phone was released for sale over the Easter weekend.
Reports have hit the online forums suggesting that the connection between Lumia 900 handset and data network was failing. This has now been identified as a software error related to the phone’s memory. Nokia is promising a fix is in the works for this problem and that it will be available on Monday, April 16th – a lengthy and lonely five days before buyers can make the best of all those Windows Phone social features!
Alternatively Nokia is offering to exchange any handsets with the faulty software for another fixed one with a full update and hopefully no more data connection bugs. In addition, customers who bought through AT&T could receive a free boost of up to $100 worth of credit/service to their account as compensation.
That’s the same cost as the Lumia 900 (which will go on sale in the United Kingdom from April 27th) and replacing the faulty handsets will be costly for Nokia, which has already had a number of teeth problems with its previous model Lumia 800 – particularly with the battery life, which has now been addressed by its own fix.
