PS4 Outsells Xbox One for the 4th Month in A Row

Meanwhile, in North America (USA, Canada, etc.) Microsoft’s new Xbox One has been universally thrashed by Sony’s latest Playstation. PS4 sales have topped XBONE (Xbox One) sales for the last 4 months, and amazingly forecasts show they have no signs of stopping.

Sales figures for April have yet to be revealed for the PS4, but Sony are confident that they have sold more than the 115,000 units posted by Microsoft for the XBONE.

An analyst from the NPD Group (A large market research organisation), Liam Callahan, said that in the first six months after release sales of both the XBONE and PS4 were more than double the combined sales of PS3 and 360 in their first six months. In other words, the new generation is twice as popular.

Additionally the same can be said for sales of games and other related software, with a 40% increase from first six month sales of Xbox 360 and PS3 hardware. Also, Wii U sales have risen 80% in the last year. Wii U!

Microsoft still dominates the market, with sales of 71,000 Xbox 360 consoles in April, 447,000 Xbox One games and 2.2 million Xbox 360 games, controlling a titanic market share of 53%. But, in a score for Sony, Infamous Second Son was the biggest-selling game released on the new consoles.

As you may have read, Microsoft is planning to release a reduced price XBONE in June, which will not feature the Kinect gimmick sensor. The reduced price will be £349 / $399 without the camera accessory starting June 9.
