[UPDATED:]
Sony has now acknowledged the PSN issues which have been affecting the PS4 system since update 2.0 went available this morning and PlayStation Community manager Chris Owen reports: “There is a little bit of network instability at the moment, engineers are investigating”.
We’re no nearer to knowing a timescale on a resolution to the outage which seems to have affected all PS4 users who were connected to the internet for the automatic update today but here’s a small reassurance that something’s being done about it.
[ORIGINAL ARTICLE:]
The latest PS4 firmware was released today, with version 2.0 promising big improvements and additions including Share Play and USB Media Player and Themes. However for some the automatic update has subsequently brought about an outage of the Playstation Network.
Possibly due to traffic with the new update going live today, the PSN is being reported as downed by users on social media sites such as Twitter and Reddit across the globe and we at the Gadget Helpline has also received feedback from PS4 gamers in the UK who are experiencing the issue which appears to have surfaced within the past hour.
Those who have had issues accessing PSN since updating also report the error code NW-31201-7 so if you are receiving this today the chances are you’re caught up in the same network troubles and we do not believe this to be a console related issue.
No official word from Sony as of yet.
