Qualcomm has announced a new partnership with LG today that will see LG releasing a new quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro based smartphone by the end of the year in Korea.
LG themselves have not confirmed the partnership or the plans but Qualcommm has stated:
“Qualcomm will supply the latest Snapdragon S4 Pro platform to LG, enabling LG’s new quad-core smartphone, which is currently in production with anticipated commercial availability in Korea in September and global rollout to follow.
“This smartphone will be the newest commercial and global device to offer a quad core CPU Snapdragon S4 processor along with 3G/LTE multi-mode capabilities, delivering a superior mobile experience for voice, web browsing, games, user interfaces and other graphics applications.”
The rumoured device that will carry this chip is the LG Optimus G which is said to have 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel camera, a 4.7-inch 720p IPS LCD display plus the quad core CPU Snapdragon S4 processor.
Qualcomm has stated that the smartphone will be coming to Korea in September and then the rest of the world following and the rumoured LG Optimus G is listed as a October release.
Hopefully LG will be able to put some more official information out regarding the new partnership soon.
