Revamped MeeGo tablet interface appears in Beijing

A spanking new version of the MeeGo operating system has been spotted at the Intel Developer Forum (IDF) in Beijing, followed by a new video popping up on the web showing the user interface being demonstrated on an unidentified tablet – believed to be one of the first in a range of MeeGo-based gadgets.

The MeeGo UI first appeared as a joint venture between Nokia and Intel in early 2010 and hasn’t changed much since then. This new version looks to have received a serious facelift, ditching the vertical columns and enhancing the interface with a graphical, slicker style with a lot of original features including scrolling menus and flip-through photo widget, but also borrowing from operating system giant Google Android – and who wouldn’t follow the leader?
