The next generation in HD TVs is taking a step closer to being a household object today, as Samsung has announced that it will be releasing new ultra high definition 55-inch and 65-inch UHD TVs at a much more reasonable price.
Now by reasonable we mean you still won’t be picking one up for sub a £1,000 anytime soon, but compared to the £35,000 mark that the 85-inch Samsung S9 Ultra HD TV is selling for in Selfridges in London, the new 55-inch and 65-inch UHD models are a “bargain”.
The two new models will make their first appearances in South Korea next month and whilst Samsung has not put out any official pricing, the new range is expected to compete with Sony’s similarly sized 55 and 65-inch models which are priced at around £3,300.
The S9 models include Micro Dimming Ultimate LED lighting which provides a unique 4K viewing experience that is so clear it looks real. We were able to take a look at a 4K Sony TV at the Gadget Show 2013 and it’s safe to say it’s so crisp you feel like it’s a window.
Samsung is expected to launch the new S9 4K 55 and 65-inch TVs in June across the globe, including here in Europe.
