As I’m sure you’ll be aware, the capabilities and performance of both smartphones and tablet devices are ever increasing, and it would only be a matter of time before we start to see the next generation of chips that will power future devices.
And now, that day has come as Samsung have just unveiled their latest chipset which will make its way to high-end devices – the new Exynos 5250, which is the successor to the massively successful Exynos 4210; which also happens to be what powers the popular Samsung Galaxy SII.
The new Exynos 5250 is the company’s first dual-core chip to have a clock speed of 2 GHz on each core, which Samsung explains gives the chip double the performance compared to the Exynos 4210.
The new chip shines when it comes to powering devices that will feature 3D graphics, it can give performance boosts of up to four times that of its predecessor. The new chip also supports much higher resolutions; in fact it’s capable of displaying WQXGA which is 2560 x 1600 pixels.
According to Samsung, the new Exynos 5250 will begin mass production in the second quarter of next year. Roll on 2012!
