Samsung Smart TV owners will soon be using nothing but their hands and thin air to catapult our feathered friends into the dastardly green pigs, as Angry Birds looks to make its way to Samsung’s Smart Hub.
The Korean manufacturer announced that the popular game will soon be available to download on its Smart TVs from the Smart Hub, and what’s more it will utilise the motion control system. That’s right; you won’t be trying to precisely aim your catapult using a fiddly TV control, you’ll be doing it using Nintendo Wii-style motion control, but without the controller.
A selection of Samsung’s internet connected Smart TVs, including the ES7000, ES8000, and ES9000 will be able to download the app and use motion control thanks to the inbuilt webcam above the screen on all three models.
Samsung has been working with Rovio since the end of 2011 on a version of the smash-hit game, and says it will launch worldwide this month via the Smart Hub. It’s not clear at present if the app will become available for Samsung’s other Smart TVs that don’t tote motion control capabilities.
We’ll be getting some hands on time with Angry Birds, motion control style, on the Samsung ES8000 as soon as we can.
