Samsung Galaxy S II wins Phone of the Year award twice

Samsung’s immensely popular Galaxy S II Android Smartphone has fought off tough competition from many smartphones, plus many-a-lawsuit from Apple, to win not one but two ‘Phone of the Year’ awards.

The smartphone, which has now sold over 10 million copies worldwide, took the top spot in the T3 Awards’ ‘Phone of the Year 2011’ category, and also took the ‘Phone of the Year’ title in the Mobile Choice UK awards. It’s been a busy, yet successful week for the smartphone.

In both awards the Galaxy S II beat out the HTC Sensation, HTC Incredible S, Motorola Atrix, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc and the Apple iPhone 4 to come tops.

The T3 ‘Phone of the Year’ award has been won by either Apple or HTC for the last three years running, so we have to congratulate Samsung on knocking the two from the top spot, as well as on making a cracking smartphone!

T3 had only good things to say of the S II when they announced it as the winner: “Samsung smashed it into the roof of the net with its top-of-the-range Android blower. A gorgeous looking phone with slick operation, the S II also features the best camera on any smartphone to date, great integration with Samsung’s TVs and other kit and a screen that matches the iPhone 4’s, without aping it, thanks to the unfathomable power of Super AMOLED.”

We get thousands of customers calling every week who have just treated themselves to a new Galaxy S II, and they always love it. Well done to Samsung for creating a great alternative to the iPhone 4!

We’ve recently seen leaked information on the next Galaxy S smartphone, the Galaxy S III. A leaked slide shows that it will feature 2GB of RAM and a super fast 1.8GHz Dual-Core processor.
