Samsung Galaxy S III Specifications Leaked

  • by

This one is going straight into the ‘Rumours’ drawer in the Gadget Helpline’s tech news filing cabinet, but do read on for some interesting information on the Samsung Galaxy S III.

Firstly, it’s around about the time we should start hearing about Samsung’s next flagship smartphone – it’s been around 6 months since the Galaxy S II launched, and Apple are about to announce their next iPhone. Samsung need to stir up some interest to compete with Apple again.

An anonymous tipster has apparently spent some time at a Samsung headquarters where he has both played with the Nexus Prime and heard plenty about the Galaxy S III. Hold tight folks, the specifications list rumoured for Samsung’s next Galaxy S phone is incredible. We just hope it turns out to be true.

    • Quad-core 2.0GHz processor.
    • 1.5GB RAM, expandable memory with 32GB built-in.
    • 4.65-inch Super AMOLED III display developed specially for this phone with an odd 1280 x 1024 resolution, which will give it a pixel density of 352-PPI, the highest on a smartphone so far.
    • 10 megapixel camera capable of recording 1080p videos at 60fps.
    • Metal body with 9mm thickness and a 2,250mAh battery.
    • Built-in NFC.

Pretty mindblowing stuff, right? The Quad-Core processor is certainly a possibility for a next-generation smartphone that is due to be released within the first four months of 2012. We already know Nvidia are developing the Kal-el Quad-Core processor which could be used in the Galaxy S III.

It would also make perfect sense for Samsung to showcase the next amazing screen technology they come up with in the Galaxy S III. Currently we have the Super AMOLED Plus screen, and apparently we’re going to see something much better in the next handset – a pixel density of 352 pixels per inch and a resolution of 1280 x 1024. As GSMArena points out, this resolution does seem a little strange for a smartphone.

As expected, this phone will definitely be running the next incarnation of Android which has been officially named Ice Cream Sandwich. Samsung will also be adding their TouchWiz user interface, with version 5 being the rumoured build that will debut on this phone.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S III – whatever the specifications – at the MWC conference in Barcelona next February. They chose the same event this year to announce the Galaxy S II, so it makes perfect sense.

As these are the first whispers we’ve heard about the next Galaxy S, take it with a pinch of salt. Be sure to let us know what you think of the specifications above, are you sceptical or do you think they could be right?
