Samsung Galaxy S5 Zoom Launch Event on 29th April

Samsung have sent out a host of invites to a special K themed Launch event in Singapore, dated the 29th of April with speculation looking towards the recently leaked Samsung galaxy Zoom follow-up smartphone.

The Samsung galaxy Zoom 2 or Galaxy K Zoom as its likely to be named is looking like it will break cover on April the 29th at the Singapore event, where Samsung showcase its smartphone/digital camera hybrid to the world.

Galaxy K looks like the codename for the Galaxy S5 Zoom, but with the official invites featuring a large K and the phrase “Kapture the Moment” it looks like Samsung may be using the K as a branding for the Zoom 2.

The previous Samsung galaxy S4 Zoom came with et S4 branding of last year’s smartphone, so instead of the next generation camera/phone being classed as a Zoom 2, it may just be called the Galaxy S5 Zoom in line with this year’s flagship Galaxy smartphone.

Other pointers to this even being for the next generation Zoom phone is the timing, as last year Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 Zoom two months after the S4 was revealed, and this 2 month timeframe also sits with the K Invite.

Two weeks ago a leaked image purporting to be the Galaxy S5 Zoom hit the web with some leaked specifications. These revealed that the next Zoom handset would come with a 20MP CMOS camera sensor and 10x optical zoom a 4.8 inch 720p display, 1.3GHz processor, 2GB RAM and Android 4.4.2 KitKat, as well as with Samsung’s TouchWiz UI.

The spec’s don’t scream high end, but for those who want a Digital camera (and more importantly a big zoom) combined with a smartphone, it’s definitely an option. We will find out exactly just what Samsung have planned in a few weeks’ time.
