Samsung is looking set to expand on its official accessory offerings, with the latest product to surface being a new multi-mode speaker dock to complement its ever-expanding range of Galaxy devices.
SamMobile has gotten hold of some information regarding a new speaker dock that Samsung hopes to launch in the early stages of next year to compliment devices such as the Galaxy SII, Galaxy Note II and Galaxy S MP3 players. It’s spherical in design and appears to come in a range of colours, with silver, black and red all shown in the leaked image – if you ask us, red looks the best.
From what we can see, the speaker features a removable grille that reveals a docking connection for Galaxy devices. The speaker will feature a number of different ways to connect a device, so we’re assuming that when the speaker grille is in place there will be other usable connections on the back.
When the grille is removed, the speaker features a cove with a micro USB connection that allows music to be played directly from the device while charging simultaneously, just as you would do with an iPod or iPhone. There’s also Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity if you want to keep your phone with you for switching tracks and such, and a 3.5mm connection to support almost any device.
As for the sounds; there’s said to be a pair of three watt channel stereo speakers tucked away inside.
It’s nice to see Samsung coming up with some official accessories for music lovers, especially with Apple leading the charge with a plethora of docks and speakers and rival Android device maker HTC having Beats Audio integration.
Samsung is expected to launch this speaker at either the MWC or CES events during the first quarter of 2013, with sales expected to start closer to March.
