An image which was recently posted online showing Samsung’s flagship Android smartphone with what appears to be heat-related damage is now being investigated, the South Korean company has confirmed.
Little information is known at the moment about the issue; whether this is an isolated problem or if it could possibly be more widespread, but even so Samsung has been quick to respond to the concern by releasing the statement below:
There have been recent online posts displaying pictures of a Samsung GALAXY SIII that appears to have heat-related damage at the bottom of the device. Samsung is aware of this issue and will begin investigating as soon as we receive the specific product in question.
Once the investigation is complete, we will be able to provide further details on the situation. We are committed to providing our customers with the safest products possible and are looking at this seriously.
The hype around the release of the Samsung Galaxy SIII is still massive, while the smartphone is already available for consumers in Europe, today is the day it finally makes its way across the pond to the U.S.
It’s therefore good to see that Samsung being pro-active about this recent issue, trying to identify the problem, and hopefully reassuring users and potential users that there is nothing to worry about. After all, they won’t want anything to spoil the handset’s current popularity and sales figures.
Hopefully we’ll get some updates about the reported issue and when it becomes available, you can be assured we’ll let you know.
