Samsung shows us a teaser image of the Galaxy S4

Keen to keep the hype building ahead of its Mobile Unpacked event in New York City on Thursday, Samsung has revealed the first official teaser picture of the Galaxy S4.

The Samsung Mobile US Twitter account tweeted “The countdown for #TheNextBigThing has begun. Who’s ready for the Global Unpacked Event on March 14th?” along with an image link this morning.

The image doesn’t reveal a great deal – it’s merely the top of a phone shrouded in shadows and darkness. However, being the overly keen gadget fans that we are, we’ve given it a thorough going over with a fine-toothed comb. For starters it’s easy to see that the phone in the image keeps a very similar design to the Galaxy S3, with overstated curved corners and a silver Samsung logo front and centre above the display.

There’s no front facing camera, speaker or sensors to be spotted in the image, and as such we’re inclined to think that the phone pictured is an edited version of the S4 for advertising purposes. The left of the phone appears to have a volume rocker in the same place as the S3 – could Samsung be leading us on a merry dance with a picture that’s actually showing last year’s phone?

However, if we look at the design of the leaked Galaxy S4 GT-I9502 that appeared on a Chinese forum yesterday, we can draw some comparisons. Perhaps Samsung is sticking with a similar design after all.
